- Beach holidays in Bude
Bude offers 2 beautiful beaches on the edge of the Town Centre, Summerleaze Beach and Crooklets Beach. We're just a 3 minute walk to Crooklets Beach, where you'll find a safe sandy beach with 'Beach Cafe' and the Crooklets Inn for a local pint! Both beaches are under the careful watch of our lifeguards during the summer months, whilst being used every day of the year by our local surfers!
Summerleaze has a large breakwater with 'barrel rock' towering at the end. This protects the working fishing boats and entrance to Bude Canal with its working sea lock gates. Summerleaze has a sea-water swimming pool - (sometimes under water at high tide!) it does provide safe bathing for the family.

Bude offers a great 18 hole golf course, open all year with a par of 71 (6,057 yards) - Wyvern Guest House is fortunately placed, directly overlooking the Golf Course and the challenging right-left dog leg of the 3rd hole! We're just a 3 minute walk to the club house.

Surfing has been big in Bude for many years - with one of the first Surf Live Saving Clubs in the UK. Blessed with both Summerleaze & Crooklets Beach adjoining the town centre and only 500m level walk from Wvyern Guest House - you'll also find a short drive away Widemouth Bay (3 miles) and many hidden hot spots which only dedicated surfers will know about or hunt out!

With miles of rugged unspoilt coastal paths, North Cornwall offers some of the most beautiful, natural and inspiring cliff top walks - it's a brilliant work out and you'll discover some great hidden spots along the way. In addition, you'll find lots of footpaths through undulating countryside, connecting local villages and a great canal path with a handy placed tea rooms at the end!

Cycling around Bude you'll find lots of bridal ways, the canel path and much more. You can bring your own bikes as we offer safe storage in our locked garage. You can also rent bikes for all the family - we can arrange for bikes to be hired from a local company just around the corner, they'll even deliver to Wyvern guest house for you!

- Fishing in Bude
Bude is a great area for the experienced or beginner fisherman, from crab lines in rock pools in the beach to organised sea fishing boat trips. In addition to the sea fishing, Bude Canal is stocked with many carp, bream, perch, tench and rudd (local license required). Also in the area you’ll find several large reservoirs managed by South West Lakes Trust, (see www.swlakestrust.org.uk) and private Trout fisheries for coarse fishing and various rivers for fly fishing.

- Indoors; Swimming Pool, 10 Pin Bowling & Playzone
Next to each other, just by Morrison's Supermarket you'll find the local leisure centre with a 35m indoor swimming pool that has a wave machine, poolside cafe and shop. Nextdoor is HarleQuinns Leisure Centre; boasting the biggest Playzone for children in the South West with six fun packed levels, along with ten lanes of 10-pin bowling, a bar and snack bar for food. (Both are open all year round).

- Horse Riding in Bude
Bude is home to several stables and riding schools with many others in the North Cornwall area offering a wonderful choice of rides with beaches, coastal paths, moors and bridal ways throughout the North Cornwall region. Local stables include 'Efford Down', 'Maer Lane' and 'Gooseham Barton' at Morwenstow. All welcome a single ride from holiday-makers and their regular visitors!

- Rock Climbing and Abseiling in Bude
The rugged North Coast offers some very good & challenging climbs with local maps and guides available for hundreds of ascents and descents! In addition to the coastal areas, the nearby Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor have many climbs around their tors, all of which are all within an hours drive from Bude. As it's slightly weather dependant, you'll also find a couple of indoor climbing walls locally. Abseiling has become very popular and can be arranged through local adventure centers.

- Bude Jazz Festival
The life & soul of New Orleans returns to Bude every year! During the summer Bude hosts one of the UK's leading jazz festivals with around 150 events packed into just 7 days. See the town come to life with entertainment in approximately 14 of the local venues along with a street parade through the town centre! With many acts returning year after year for this truly international event we do recommend you book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment.
Most of the lively venues are within walking distance of the town centre and ofcourse Wyvern Guest House, they are also linked by a continuous bus service which is free to ticket holders. - Bird Watching Holidays in Bude
Bude offers numerous areas for birth watching; you have Maer Lake just down the road from us, protected by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Along the Bude Canal and River Neet Valley Walk you'll find many varieties of birds with a few bird watching look outs provided for you. In addition to the birdlife along the cliffs and estuaries you have several reservoirs managed by the South West Lakes Trust, see www.swlakestrust.org.uk for the locations.

- Kayaking and Canoeing in Bude
Bude's location and surroundings naturally create a great kayaking environment. The local canal system provides the perfect safe location to introduce young and novice paddlers to canoeing & kayaking. Then we have the beaches for the little more adventourous and open sea kayaking & surfing. There are some very good & experienced local companies who provide lessons and courses.
