Bude Lifeboat Day – 31st August 2010

Bank Holiday Monday in August sees the annual Bude Lifeboat day, a brilliant fun day for the town, for people of all ages with all sorts going on and most importantly is a great fundraiser for the RNLI, who keep our beaches safe throughout the country.

Bude Lifeboat Day always starts with a Search and Rescue demonstration from Bude’s Lifeboat, Bude Coastguard and Sea King helicopter from RAF Chivenor – all carefully watched by the crowds on the beach and Downs.

The day is then packed with a range of activities including  rowing races, sand & culn races, canoe polo on the canal, rowing races, pasty competition, coffees, cream teas, treasure hunt, face painting, crab catching competition, hog toast, ladies guild stalls, sea safety caravan, beach rescue, disco, live band, and an impressive fireworks display by the Castle Grounds in the evening.

There is live music throughout the day which usually includes the Lifeboat Singers, Friggin’ Riggin’, A Bit O’ Luck, Bude Metric Brass, The Bideford Youth Pipe Band and Atlantic Highway.

This really is one of Bude’s Biggest Fundraising days which sees many people return year after year to their favourite holiday destination in North Cornwall.

If you need accommodation in Bude over the bank holiday weekend, you really should book early to avoid disappointment – for Bed & Breakfast in Bude / B&B in Bude you are welcome at Wyvern Guest House.
